“There is a paradox in any helpful teaching. It is, you do not need any help. The extreme intelligence and infinity of life is fully established in you, as you. Any genuine friend [teacher] will help you understand this and make the teaching function redundant. Spiritual transmission occurs only in sincere friendship. The teacher is an equal friend, nothing more and nothing less. Without this quality the concept of a Teacher is an obstruction and the problem itself. In the mode of Respect for each individual the teacher impeccably deconstructs the persuasive and pervasive social model of inequality. This is the spiritual process. It leaves each person in his or her Ground as Life, in free unobstructed relationship with everything.”—
my sweetheart and i want to go camping in joshua tree next month (neither of us have ever been). tips/advice/etc?
come visit me in san diego!!! it’s so close :D
seriously though: call ahead & get a permit to head into the backcountry with yr camping gear (the campgrounds are ludicrously national-parky). if you run out of time, there’s a few overflow areas the bureau of land management has set aside, but make sure you have 4wd :)
indian cove is lovely, as is hidden valley. I LOVE the boy scout trail! wilderness areas are in the east side of the park— more colorado desert than mojave, but less people > more.
much love, my love. let me know if you need any more advice <3
“We could stand for a century
With our heads cocked
In the broad daylight at this thing
In bodies that don’t keep
Dumbstruck with the sweetness of being
Until we don’t be”—Joanna Newsom, “Emily”
“Once you experience the inner silence you never feel empty, because in the inner silence you can hear the stars speak, you can hear the voice of the water, you can hear the voice of the great Self.”—Gurumayi Chidvilasananda
I am the divine feminine incarnate— the priestess of totality in the flesh. I own her carnal dexterity, her sweeping sentimentality, her unconditional love. I am more powerful than your gods, more intelligent than your scholars, more passionate than your lovers. You sowed the seed of your own lithesome body within my cavern, bathed and nourished in my secretions with the light of ten moons. Drink deep of me, thirst for no other, and be whole.
namaste! I’ve got that infinite coughing thing that’s been going around (1.5 weeks so far for me) but I’m chugging wild cherry bark syrup like nobody’s business & getting ready to watch a joseph campbell documentary. life is good. how are you, sweet lotus heart?
